Based in Stockport, this SME Manufacturer is looking for an experienced, highly capable, operational sales admin/customer account manager who has a background in manufacturing or engineering, is used to playing a bigger part in a smaller company and wants a stable role they can grow into.
This job is very much a ‘voice of the customer’ role and involves looking after and supporting both existing and new accounts with their sales and service needs and will occasionally need you to visit client sites to sort out issues and ensure robust customer satisfaction. This wouldn’t be a regular occurrence but you would need to be comfortable with it.
It’s a high-level, sometimes complex, customer support role that involves a wide mix of sales admin, account management, operational input, plenty of customer interactions, sales order processing, dealing with and chasing couriers, orders and shipments, as well as ensuring you understand production schedules so that you can plan ahead with your customer and deliver an outstanding experience.
You really do need to be great at managing your own workload, supporting others with theirs, and keeping the customer happy!
With this in mind, it’s not a job for anyone as it’s very involved and sometimes complex, but certainly one you can make your own.
So if you’re interested in working for a well-established, successful, modern manufacturing business where you get to manage customer expectations, liaise with production, and ensure high-level customer satisfaction, this just might be the job you’ve been looking for.
The company has low staff turnover, strong company values and a modern manufacturing working environment with significant investment in new equipment to continue to support its aim of being a flexible, fast turnaround, batch manufacturing provider.
Main duties to include:
- Being the primary contact for circa 50 customers and counting
- Handle customer enquiries, order placements, delivery confirmations and invoicing
- Proactively engaging customers to maximise order placements and forecast future orders
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout
- Adjust pricing for repeat business based on cost variations
- Coordinate with external suppliers and internal teams to support production planning
- Collaborate with production, quality, and warehouse teams to optimise delivery and production output
Skills needed:
- Solid experience supporting customers in an SME manufacturing environment
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with customers, suppliers and external contacts
- Capable of working independently and under some time pressure in a results-driven environment
- Ability to take ownership of the customer experience and be the ‘voice of the customer’ to ensure quality service is consistently delivered
- Drive and energy to deliver results
- Strong team working abilities
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement techniques would be advantageous
In return you can expect:
- Circa £35k-£40k salary
- 39 hours per week with the option of flexible starts
- Holidays rising with service
- Contributory pension
- Plus other benefits
